I took a trip to the "fancy pet food place" in town to check out what types of food they have. They have nearly every brand of high quality dog food, but I opted for the Merrick because they have a bunch of different flavors that can easily be switched around without switching brands. Anyone here buy Merrick, and what do you pay?
If not Merrick, what do you buy and how much do you pay? Just curious if I'm in the ballpark for cost.

I have bought Merrick directly through their website (shipping is free) and I have bought it at my dog's doggie daycare. He only eats the canned food but I think the price depends on where you go. His doggie daycare is quite more expensive than the local Pet Supplies Plus.

Weird, if I order it from the Merrick website, a 15 pound bag is $38. I guess the pet shop is cheaper.

I guess it's not quite "free shipping" then since they raise the price of the product.

Here is a site to check out the rating of your dog food.It is 5 stars...

Also I can't find a cheaper price for that type of dog food online. So I would buy it that price and It would much cheaper if you can buy in a bigger bag... Good Luck.... I heard some good reviews on this product.

I don't use Merrick, but a 15 lb. bag of puppy food at my store is $24.99. We feed mostly raw, but have kibble for those times we forget to defrost. We alternate between Acana and Orijen, and Acana is $34 for 16.5 lbs and Orijen is $43 for 16.4 lbs.

What do you mean that you only feed raw?

I am finally weaning my dogs off Nutro. I went to Petsmart the other day and looked and read. I wanted to stay within the same price range as the Nutro as I have 6 mouths to feed. I remembered someone recommending Blue Buffalo so that is what I got. Since my dogs are all somewhat overweight I got the Weight Control. It was a 30lb bag for 47 bucks!
Did I make a good choice for my fur babies?

Lately, we've been feeding him raw twice a day. When he's with the pet sitter or when we forget to defrost, he'll get kibble. If you have a butcher in your area, you can get some awesome deals on meat.
We still have some prepackaged raw, but are switching to homemade for various reasons. We did prepackaged at first, since we didn't know where to begin, but now that we have the knowledge to make our own, we won't be using the packaged stuff. To feed the prepackaged twice a day, for a 47 lb. dog it costs around $50/week, which is absurd. We've been buying the meat at the butcher lately and slowly introducing real raw, bones and all, and we think it will cost about $40/month, which is a huge savings from the prepackaged.
We were worried that he'd choke, but he's been fine and actually enjoying his food more than ever. Hey, if my friend's chinese cresteds can eat an entire chicken neck/wing, without choking, I think my dog can too! A friend of mine has 4 large breed dogs and spends only $120 on raw per month, but she buys in bulk and has a freezer in her basement.
Here are some great raw feeding resources:
