ATLANTA – An Atlanta man who rescued one stray dog from traffic now has his hands full with 10 pooches. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Thursday that Gary DeNicola rescued the dog in late September with plans to take it to a shelter the next day. But it turns out the dog was pregnant and gave birth to nine puppies that night.

what a heart warming story, I bet those kids will all have homes very soon. Any clue as to what kind of babies they may be???

Funny how the media picks up on a story like that. It happens so often everywhere in this country, especially when the economy is bad. The four I just took in all came in that way to the lady that was keeping them. I've got 2 moms with one of their babies each.

I hope he's careful about adopting them out. Sick people in this world....

With the media attention, I imagine he'll be able to adopt the puppies out. Of course, he should expect an adoption fee to weed out the sickos.
Sounds like he might not want to keep the mother, either. Again, with the publicity, I'm sure someone good will adopt her. And get her fixed.
Bless him for taking care of a lost dog.

That happened to my family long ago. Took in a cute corgi mix stray...turned out she was pregnant and had four puppies not long after. I'm sure that sort of things happen very very often.

Not exactly news worthy, but I'm guessing the guy knows someone at the paper.

As for a fee, this is what we did one year (many years ago) we used to breed Springer Spanials, Well one year our only mommy we had at the time decided to become neighborhood tramp and did what she wanted with whom she wanted. Of course she got out by accident. Anyway, we ended up with 10 puppies of varying sizes, and shapes. We had no trouble finding homes for them and we charged a fee of $25.00 (years ago) had the checks made out to the humane society. BTW, we had she spayed right after that..LOL

This is such a sore spot.
One of my favorite professors was killed recently while trying to rescue an injured dog on the side of the road.
