My boyfriend moved to Massachusetts in May and the dogs and I will be joining him in March 2010. He doesn't think the dogs will remember him, but when I saw the other video of the soldier coming home and the dog freaking out and crying she was so happy to see him I was convinced these two would remember him. My boyfriend still doesn't believe me lol
people magazine had an article about this recently .... brought a tear to my eye.......
actually, i couldn't open the video yesterday when i made this post..... the story in people was about ANOTHER dog in afghanistan that a soldier adopted and brought home...... it was named stubbs because someone had chopped its ears..... ...... followed the soldiers across the desert when they moved from one location to another...... and is now living a good life in the states........
My vet has been deployed to Afghanistan several times in his professional capacity. He did say that the diseases issue is real, but...
There is a small animal shelter/humane movement in Kabul that I contribute to (told about them by a reliable friend). They have a U.S. address for contributions. I love them.
I know there is so much human suffering but for some reason, animal suffering at the hands of people makes me sick in a way that human suffering does not.
I am so glad when these soldiers can have the consolation of saving a beloved animal in the midst of so much difficulty. Thanks to all who serve.
