Our dog is able to jump on the beds and in the day we allow her on ours (on the bedspread) or our son's. This is only in the last few months.
Now she has begun to try and dig up the sheets and blankets and sleep in the bed or make a nest on them.
I am so annoyed because she sheds like mad and we already have dog hair everywhere! I don't even like her on the bedspread now she is shedding all over (Lab/pointer black and white hairs..!)
I shooed her off and she grumbled all the way down to her blanket on the floor then I swear she just glared at me.
Our blue sofa looks like...well, she is not allowed on it but she rubs against it every chance she gets...
Simple crisp white flat sheets for the beds. I just toss them on top of the comforter, pillows, and everything when I make the beds in the morning. It looks like I am always ready to paint.
I have at least two of everything and everything goes in the washer and dryer.

For this reason, I close all the bedroom doors when I'm not around.
And the best investment we ever made were the baby gates. Invaluable. Even though either dog could easily hop them (they're big dogs), they're scared of 'em. So if you want to leave the doors open because of heating/cooling, just toss a baby gate in front of it. Or in front of the stairs, which is how we keep 'em out of our bedrooms.

I have a Lap Shepherd mix and I just learn to deal with dog hair. I am not allergic so I just gave up worrying about it. The price I pay for having a dog.
I keep a blanket on top of my comforter and always make my bed in the morning. When I go to bed at night, I just turn down the blanket enough so that I don't dog hair in my face. It's not the best setup, but I keep putting off buying my dog his own bed. I figure a lazy dog shedding hair on my bed is better than a bored dog chewing up whatever he can put his mouth on.
