Our little beagle woke up the other moring in severe pain and was unable to walk on his back leg. He was taken to the vet and they did x-rays, scans, and blood work which all came up with nothing. Gave him some pain medicine after advising us that he was indeed in severe pain and is now home and seems fine and is walking on that leg again. This has happened before except the first time he wasn't able to walk on either of his back legs. I've been doing some research and think he may have a pinched nerve but apparently that is difficult to diagnose in dogs and just as with people may be treated at the time w/steroids and/or a cortizone shot. I hate to see this little guy go through this. We've banned him from jumping and running (which may be a longterm plan) and have put him on a diet so he can drop a few pounds. I was wondering if anyone else out there has had this problem with their own dog and if so, do you have any suggestions in helping him (and us) deal with it so it doesn't get worse. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
