... and they bark ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL day long! Our family is woke up every day at the crack of dawn by the Dachsund across the street, who NEVER shuts up! This morning I took a video of it, wishing I could send it to the neighbors, so they could hear what it sounds like from our bed. I called the cops on them when I first moved here, as I thought the poor dog was stuck or strtangling. They didn't do a thing to stop the barking!!
And that's an especially annoying pitch. I don't understand why people acquire a social pack animal, then leave them alone and tied to a rope. I also don't understand how people can tune out the plaintive cries for attention from these animals.
I think I understand dogs better than I do people. I do know I prefer the company of dogs over most people.
Call your county animal shelter and ask them what you can do. There might be some kind of noise ordinance for barking dogs, or a tethering law. Or you can first kindly suggest to your neighbor that it barks all the time. Good luck!
I would be going over there and knocking on their door and waking them up and asking them to please shut the dog up or keep it in the house . I have two chihuahuas that really used to be bad at barking when they first came to my home not anymore as they have had the training that they need to stop the barking .plain and simple . Im sorry that you have had to deal with this I wish you luck in getting it resolved .
I wouldn't go over there or confront these people. You have no idea how they will react, and I am not especially hopeful that they will be civilly receptive to your concerns if they are the kind of people that treat their dog this way.
I would call Animal Control and the cops. I would also leave an anonymous flyer in their mailbox re: barking and anxiety issues in dogs, and how to relieve it. I imagine that the dog is outside b/c it barks all of the time, and this is how the owners are dealing with it.
VERY sad life for a poor dog. If people would simply put themselves in the place of the pets, they would not make them suffer. The dogs and pets want to be with us, why tie a dog up or make them stay outside, odd to me.
They need to be with us inside playing, going on walks, little trips for a picnic etc.
We have neighbors with two dachshunds that they leave outside and you can't make a noise or they are barking non-stop at you and THAT is beyond ANNOYING. It is so loud and endless. I have no idea how the neighbors stand it. Once they had the dogs out front and the dogs were shivering....once back behind the wooden fence the bravado came out again. I'm praying they don't replace these with more dachshunds when they die.....they will surely learn this awful behavior from the current ones.
