Though we paid off our DTCU home improvement loan several months ago, they keep automatically withdrawing the money from our checking account. Every month we call, and every month they promise to stop doing this, and yet, once again the money has been withdrawn from our bank account this month.

Who do we call to get this to stop? Anybody know?

Closed DTCU account already. They keep deducting the money from our Wells Fargo checking.

When we call they apologize but insist that they can't just transfer the money back to our WF checking account, they have to cut and mail a check. We are in NC, so the check takes several days to get here. Then it takes 5 working days for WF to clear it.

We have told WF to quit allowing it, but that isn't working. If it happens again in June, will close WF account.

I would call and speak to the highest level manager you can get at the credit union to complain and get assurance that it won't happen again, and let them know that if it does you will be writing letters to the editor and/or filing an official complaint with________ (whatever authority regulates credit unions). There are really some big issues at play here- besides the huge inconvenience to you, and apparent disorganization of the credit union, there are some big ethical (and/or legal?) Implications with the fact that a financial institution is accessing your money/accounts when they no longer have any authority to do so- even if it's just an honest mistake, you'd think correcting something like this would be high on their priority list.

Follow up. Finally stopped withdrawing the $600 after I threatened to contact the attorney general.

Geesh.
