I've lived in Duluth for about six months now. I moved up at the beginning of the year for a job offer, and I had to find a place to live quickly. I ended up in a small one bedroom apartment in East Hillside.

A friend of mine will also be moving to the area this fall for a job, so we figured we would start looking for a 2-3 bedroom house somewhere.

We are willing to spend a bit more money (upwards of $800 a month each for the right place). I want a place that will feel like home for the next several years. A house, not an apartment.

The problem I'm running into is, a lot of the rental properties in the area are just not that nice at all and a bit run down. I understand that most of the houses in Duluth are old, but is there an option out there for renters that AREN'T in college anymore and can afford a bit more?

I toured very nice places on Observation Hill and near Woodland Middle School, but was beat out by older married couples with kids both times. As a 25 year old male, I'm not too surprised. I'm a guy and I'm young, so I'm probably just gonna leave a mess and party all the time, right?

Anyways, could anyone offer any advice? I've been using craigslist and the Shiprock management website. What else is out there to help broaden my search?

I haven't lived in Duluth for years, but are there any houses for rent on London Rd.? They shouldn't be too *run down*. They might cost a bit more, though.

The only place you will finder newer, nicer places (that I have found) is up the hill in Hermantown. The town homes behind samsclub are nice, I lived there for a few years. Not luxury by any means, but at least not run down.
