Hi all! We are coming to Duluth from ND this upcoming weekend and we are looking for things to do with our 7, 4, and 1 year old girls. We know the zoo & other typical touristy things so specifically we would like to know about any parks we should visit (the girls requested BIG slides ) and what the closest & easiest waterfall is that we could go see. We will have a stroller so hiking is out but we are willing to walk a bit for the waterfall if necessary. Thanks!

Lester Park is a beautiful place with many walking paths, and road to drive through from top to bottom the Seven Bridges Road, with many old looking stone bridges with many many waterfalls, some of which is the Deeps, and Smileys, that is a great place for kids, the park also has a large picnic area with several fire grates above ground and many picnic tables, with several shelters.

This park is absolutely spetacular in any season, with many miles of ski and hiking trails, and at the top down the road a bit further is Hawk Ridge with is world famous for bird migration counting.

Lincoln Park is a great family park also with some smaller waterfalls and road that can be easily walked leading form top to bottom with a large play area and picnic shelters, also Chester Park is another beauty with a large play area with easy access to trails and the river Chester Creek, with many waterfalls also going all the way down with road going up and down,

Although no waterfalls, Hartley Nature Center is another good choice with a interpative center with many activities and children's activities,

If you are willing to drive 25 miles to the south, Pattison Park in WI has the tallest waterfall in the state, easily accessible only a few blocks' jaunt off Wisconsin highway 35 (not Interstate 35). Certainly Gooseberry Falls on the MN North shore, or Amnicon Falls, also in WI about 25 miles east of Duluth on US Hwy 2, are also well worth your time.

In town, I do endorse ^ Demtion35's above descriptions of Lincoln Park, very serene and unique and right in town on 25 Ave West and W 3rd St, and Lester Park, much larger and wilder in its setting on the NE edge of town. More hidden but also pretty are Tischer Creek/Congdon Park, access from 3200 block of E 4th St., and Merritt Creek, cascading down behind and through the Lake Superior Zoo.
