Hey guys, I'm a high school teacher considering a move to Duluth and I happened upon some empty lots that can be had for an affordable price in Duluth. I've got family members who build tiny houses professionally so those two things could be a great combination for me except I'm not sure how friendly Duluth is as a city towards tiny houses. Does anyone know?

Thanks

The city has no particular attitude toward tiny house. There is a news story of a lady from Brainerd that opted for a tiny house and show cased in Duluth

My only personal recommendation is that your tiny house is well equipped for wintertime.

I should have been more specific, I'm looking more for anyone who may know if the city has laws and regulations that ban tiny houses. Some cities have ordinances that make them effectively banned. Does anyone know the legality of them in Duluth?

You should contact the city and ask them.

Not sure if this is still of interest to you but....the city of Duluth is hoping to change some building codes to make it tiny house friendly! I haven’t looked into it totally yet, but I heard it was coming up in late Sept or Oct. Hopefully this is something that passes as there is a housing problem in Duluth and only getting worse in the coming years. My hope is that it goes through in Duluth so that I can try and convince The City of Rice Lake (north of Dul) to change theirs so I can finally get one for myself!
