Blaming the rich and calling for fairness all the time is nothing more than the self defense mechanism of the lazy and incompetent. There is plenty up for grabs in this country for anyone who is smart enough and willing to work hard enough to grab it. The so called poor here in the US will continue to remain where they are until they learn to stop living as if they were wealthy. Once they smarten up enough to live within their means and start saving money and stop carrying mountains of car payments, credit card debt and mortgages they can't afford, they'll start to rise higher. Until then, they will remain hamsters on the wheel, working harder and harder and getting nowhere. The rich are just those who have already figured this out. You want to be rich, or at least very well off? Quit whining and start working.
Are the poor getting poorer or has what is considered poor changed say since the 50's?Last I knew it was below 18000 a year with no government support considered.

Actually, I think the biggest mistake poor people (and some middle class, too) is having kids out of wedlock. That's something the rich tend to avoid like the plague because they know where it leads to---poverty.

That is 100% correct. They treat marriage, family and parenthood the same way they treat their finances - carelessly and without regard for long term consequences. It's really not suprising that these two go hand in hand, is it? Too many people in this country just want to find excuses to blame others for all their poor decisions, and have no idea what personal responsibilty means.

BUT guaranteed because of the current business practices and the forced "globalization" by multinationals. You will begin to see even those with good college degrees needing to go on public aid. Even those who do things "the right way" will find themselves in trouble if we don't get some decent employment here soon.
