I don't really have any friends so noone comes to my house for get-togethers. It costs gas getting to places and living out in the sticks doesn't help the situation. There really isn't any clubs, volunteer stuff unless it's church related close to where I live

Move.

I'm serious.

If your name isn't Ralph Waldo Emerson or Henry Thoreau, living out in the pretty woods is nice, but it's just a matter of time before cabin fever hits you hard.

For the most part humans are social creatures.

Move to town. Get a job and pay the rent. Find some friends there.

There is a good reason the earth is becoming more and more urbanized:

People generally hate being poor and isolated.
Cities have money and fun.

It takes some people forever to admit this (especially Americans who envision themselves as some kind of bootstrap homesteaders) but we crave each other, entertainment, and all the amenities that money buys.

It's human nature to not want to be alone. Go somewhere the people and the money and the fun are. Creeekside walks in solitude can do only so much for character and development, till ya can't take no more.

How long has it been since you've been in a meaningful relationship with someone? That can take some (but not all) the loneliness out of life.

If lack of money is the cause of your funless life, maybe a sugar daddy is right for you. Not intending to be disrespectful, but it sure does work.

There's some great local meetup.com groups and most of them are free.

Going on free nature walks or to free seminars.

There is a theater near me that has movies at $1.50; they're not first-run, but they're just before the movie goes to DVD.

Games night or DVD night at a friend's house.

Hanging out with friends at Starbucks to catch up on news ($2 for a grande Pike roast).

Local museums sometimes run specials where Sunday admission is free.

Gardening.

Lots of free parks for hiking or bird-watching.

Digital photography (because I already have the equipment and I don't have to spend money on film any more).

Do you enjoy reading? I do. I could spend the rest of my life without people if I had a great souce of books. I couldn't do without our local library.

Give it a try!
