How many of you pay taxes when you rent out your home, make profit on Ebay, or make money from things that are not seen by the government?

There's always been the underground economy. Seems though the government is trying to close those loopholes where you can earn money tax free.

How many people actually make enough money doing those things, for the potential tax liability to be significant?

Most things I've sold on EBay, I sold for less than I paid for it, just to get rid of it. How come IRS doesn't pay me un-tax, for that dis-income? I use that to offset any gains I might have made on other things, and call it a wash.
