Hi, all:

I currently unemployed. Two weeks ago, my wife quited her job because she hate her company's politic. Now we need to decide either continue her insurance or buy new one. Her old insurance cost around 1600/month for a family. Very expensive. One of our friend told me we should look for insurance agent to find a good and reasonable insurance for us. Is it right?

I see Costco also provide insurance, does anyone know if it is good?

I work in this field, but for a provider - and it's not available in your area. Sorry. I agree the price is very high (1600) unless there are other factors. Generally speaking, though, it should be much lower. I don't know about the Costco - they don't have that here.

You might check out some of these sites. aetna is very good to carry.

Health Insurance - Find Affordable Health Care Coverage and Buy Medical Insurance Plans Online
Aetna - Health Insurance, Dental, Pharmacy, Group Life and Disability Insurance

If you're looking to buy health insurance, either for yourself or your business, you'll need to work with an agent. There is no other way that I know to buy health insurance other than from an agent. Websites, big companies, small independents, and health insurers all employ agents who sell you the insurance. If you're not buying from an agent, then you're probably not truly getting insurance.
Have an agent contact you! Individual Health Insurance or Group Health Insurance
There are two organizations that reputable health insurance agents can choose to join. Both of these organizations offer a find-an-agent capability on their website:
National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) - www.nahu.org
NAHU Find an Agent
and
National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA)
and the subgroup Association of Health Insurance Advisors (AHIA).
NAIFA/AHIA Find an Agent
You can also ask around with your friends, your network, your realtor, and the local chamber of commerce for a health insurance agent recommendation. You can also review the contributors to this book.
