Which hotel brand do you prefer: Baymont Inn & Suites or Quality Inn (buy, company)

I might be purchasing a hotel within the next month that needs to be re-branded. It's a mid-budget property that has been approved for Baymont Inn and Suites and Quality Inn. Baymont is a part of the Wyndham Family and Quality Inn is a part of the Choice Family.
Please let me know which brand and family you prefer. The clientele are mostly business travelers.
The PIP list is around $150k for Baymont and $300k for Quality Inn.

Quality Inn. It is part of the Choice Hotels Program which also includes Comfort Inn, Sleep Inn, etc. I think you'll get much better national brand marketing with Choice.
I guess I would go for Quality Inn, since Wyndham is the crappiest hotel company IMO but even they aren't doing great as a brand these days...hopefully you can get some incentives to rebrand the hotel with the downturn in the economy. I hope you asked for concessions with fees before it was approved. If I was to buy a hotel, I think I would go for a much more Worldwide brand, but that is just me. It all depends on the area regardless and what brands are already in the market. I have a few friends who are in the hotel ownership business and it can be a bit tricky...so I wish you luck!

I think opening any hotel in the Wyndham family is a huge mistake domestically. They may be cheaper, but check the reviews on Travelocity and other sites and you will see that more often than not, their hotels get the thumbs down. The loyalty program is a bit better with Choice so I think it would be stupid not to choose them over Wyndham. They need a major brand overhaul.
I have heard of the Baymont Inn - stayed at one, once - and, while I like Wyndham Suites, I would not stay at a Baymont again unless my only other option was an unbranded place. I'm also not fond of Quality, but if faced with a choice of only 1 or the other, I'd go with Quality.
I've stayed in a number of Baymont Inns and have had good experiences with them. They definitely aren't higher-end properties, but are much nicer than a strip motel and are definitely good for families traveling on a budget. To be honest, some of the Choice Hotels list are a bit sketchy to me (Sleep Inn), and I don't think we really consider that family of hotels until we get to Comfort Inn level. I think you get wider marketability with the Choice Hotel family, but I don't know that the marketability, combined with marginally higher room rates, makes a Quality Inn name on the front worth twice the price of a Baymont name.
