Just as NAFTA cost the US millions of American jobs, this new Korean trade agreement promises to do the same.
Is there a single trade agreement we have entered into that has resulted in a trade surplus for the US?
the good ole usa only represents a fraction of the world economy. why shouldnt we buy more then we sell???????
decades ago other countries had nothing to offer us . now each country excells in making something better, cheaper and more efficiantly then elsewhere.
Why should the american consumer pay inflated prices? Its nothig but anther form of price fixing and the lowest i our society would be hurt the most. Those that oush it are just as gredy has the y accused wall strret of bing as they only want to benefit themselves. This isn't post WW II world and they have spent over half a century fighting that to their detriment and the countires by political manipulation of the market place to keep price high. We see clearly what the UAW contribution ended up doing to america automakers. Higher prices and a downturn in qaulity of prodcuts sold to consumers.
The linked article is pure nonsense, its comments about NAFTA are pure fantasy.
Trade agreement don't cost the US jobs, for every job that gets exported one has to be imported. What they can do is cause shifts in the US job market and that is what all the complaining is really about, folks employed in inefficient sectors in the US are going to lose their jobs and will have to retrain. Unfortunately instead of thinking about what is going on and learning new skills the default reaction is to complain.
Mexico LOST WAY MORE than just jobs when they signed NAFTA. The day of cheap prices in Mexico was over as well. That also does not include the millions of people who lost their jobs or now have to pay for basic commodities comparatively priced to the US or Canada. The very fact that they are now starting to see employment gains from NAFTA is very telling. And in no way describes all the pain and suffering still going on for Mexicans under NAFTA. Sadly, the article helps to reinforce the whining of the American public.
that means we send them IOU's, and they send us goods, because they believe our IOU's to be worth something... correct?
how is that a problem? i know i'd rather be the guy with the stuff, rather than the IOU's.
If you honestly believe the IOU's will not be paid, you are deluding yourself.
I am sure the British thought the same thing when they began to become a creditor nation, and look how they have prospered.
They may be paid with your future taxes, or they may be paid by your right to self-determination but they will be paid.
