If we ever had a reason to bring manufacturing back to this country it is now.
I found this article about China imports. Scary.
WorldNetDaily: China exports lead poisoning

So after many people discover their children have lead poisoning, sue the manufacturer, stop buying from comapaniesthat import only Chinese products, will the cost savings of cheap labor really pay off?
So to avoid paying the average American worker a decent wage and a few benefits, companies put all of us at risk by outsourcing their manufacturing to unscupulous countries that are careless enough to poison their own people.
I hope they [the manufactrers] get sued for beign so careless with quality control.

The basic subject has come up twice in about as many days on here. I don't feel like retyping my thoughts on the matter, but you can read them here. I worked in product safety for 5 years, and things are not getting any better.

Just now, Fox News had an alert referencing a recall of paint sets by Toys 'r' Us. These paint sets were made in, you guessed it: China. Need to check at home and any Day care center. Not again!!!

Is China poisoning the USA? NO! It is poisoning the entire world. Their lack of controls and complete disregard for the environment are causing long lasting and damaging results.

All of the efforts to help the environment are really becoming useless as china keeps adding more and more share of their pollution into something that we believed was fixed.

All nations should be subject to the Kyoto treaty, not just selected ones.

The USA is killing our economy in favor of China and the cheap labor, which will bite us in the rear. In fact, it already started with all of the below average quality and defects.

Many people fail to realize that China is now in a position that controls our economy due to all of the debt that we have in there.

Amazingly, I have very little sympathy for people who were injured due to their purchase of a product manufactured by cheap (read: child/slave) labor.

China has no regard to any countries standards. What is wrong with any country for allowing this to continue to happen?

Unfortunately, it is the innocent children that may be the victims of products that are purchased by well meaning adults.

We have attempted to purchase many items needed either in our business or home, only to find that there are no "Made In USA" similar product available. When consumers quit altogether purchasing all products from 'cheap labor' countries then it will make a difference. Also, companies and their stockholders that encourage this type of production are mostly to blame.

Many times the consumer is blameless.

Yeah, so what is China thinking?

We are only ones who are supposed to get to dump on the world. Whether is export cigarettes or bombing other folks' kids with depleted uranium -- we really have to stick with good ol' made in the USA poison products.

So just how long did everyone figure it would be until the chickens would start to come home to roost?

I don't understand why we keep importing... bring manufacturing centers for toys in rust belt cities like Detroit and Cleveland would help out their economies...
