Has anyone on here filed a provisional utility patent (1 year) with the USPTO? How did you do it? Where do you even begin? I have done some research, but it is a lot of information to take in. I'm thinking of buying a few books to get some tips (Patent Pending in 24 hours)... Has anyone read that?

Is it even worth trying to get a provisional patent if I dont have the money upfront to mass manufacture the product?

I am hoping I can sell 50% of my idea, or business, to partner with someone who has funds and connections. Am I dreaming big or what??

( I have seen the show "Shark Tank"; however, they usually will only bite if you have already made profit or some kind of revenue from selling your product.

Advice is appreciated.

Is there a University with a Law School anywhere near you?
Assuming so, they probably have a student staffed legal assistance center of some sort.
Look for that or perhaps an aggressive 3rd year who could use a couple hundred in "consulting" fees.
