I need to pull stats on population by MSA (metropolitan statistical area) broken down by gender AND race.

For example, how many:

Asian males
Asian females
Caucasian males
Caucasian females
African american males
African american females

.....are in the top 25 metropolitan areas in the US. I need the actual number, not a % of the total population.

I tried to find such data on BLS but could not.

US census data should have this. Hard part would be how to carve the census geographical breakdowns to match what you are looking for but if you can map the 25 areas you want to the X-areas that match that from the census data then voila.

I think that there are some websites that nicely consolidate such data into a single database you can pay them and then just query on that database ESPECIALLY if you have something clean like a list of the zipcodes you are looking for etc.
