I guess no one has read the part of his 9-9-9 plan that eliminates Social security and Medicare. It says seniors can live on charity

taking a little responsibility for our situation is helpful in escaping it. if we utterly blame others for being here then we must utterly expect them to save us.
probably not guna happen. when is the last time you rescued a anybody throwing a temper tantrum and blaming it all on you?

So what? I think it's quite amusing, even if it was accidental.

I never read it, and while I'm not being on social welfare handout programs, I think eliminating them would cause more economic harm than good. Both programs need to be terminated, reforms initiated and some means found of servicing those who are in the program until the, um, Trust Fund (snicker) is exhausted and then get out of the Social Security/Medicare business.

i agree. i don't like any of the choices. if you lose a job due to declining job availability, i don't think you blame yourself. then, unless you have skills that transfer well to different areas, it's very difficult to get hired once "unemployed" in this economy. but it's also difficult to blame "wall street", though they certainly did a number on our economy. i think everyone has a little skin in this, and i think no one has done much to correct it.

For whom. I'd love to have my social security and Medicare "benefits" eliminated. But then I'm young and have plenty of time to provide for my own retirement... If they were to be phased out the next 20 years, however, with me paying a reduced rate in as they phased out that could work for my generation without completely screwing my parent's and grandparents.

Some people have themselves to blame, others are in their situation through no fault of their own. Wall street or politicians like Herman Cain are not blameless either.

I think Herman Cain's 9-9-9 will only work if we eliminated 90% of defense spending and pretty much reduce all the entitlements. The U.S. will have third world infrastructure and crappy education system with a widening gap of rich and poor but hey we will be debt free!!!!
