It's a invention to help riders have more control and make drivers have more accountability.

It also makes the riding experience more safe for the driver and rider.

I want to drop off a document of this idea to the department, in a request for a proposal fashion (even though they never requested this idea, this idea would be new to them).

However i dont want them to just steal my idea and cut me out.

How do i protect my ideas? could i put "copyright. all rights reserved" on the document?

Its not a copyright. You want a patent. You need to document your idea and send it to the patent office. Do not just send them your idea. Get the patent first. Be careful. The bigger the company the more people think they have it made. Its often the opposite because they like to use their idle legal resources to break you in court for years.

I dont think I can get a patent on it. It's not a new idea, it's been out for a years. But the department just never utilized this idea. It's used in other countries.

So i'm more like the middle man introducing the idea, along with small modifications of my own.

Why can't you patent the modifications?

If your idea has any adverse implications for the taxi/limo industry...forget it.

These commisssions are government entities and thus subject to the usual lobbying and/or corruption that pervades our government at all levels.
