Good idea to close at 1 or 2.

I think eventually companies will refuse to recognize holidays (especially Thanksgiving and Christmas) The world is getting more commercial and greedier. Also, it would be a way to avoid paying holiday pay (obviously).

I think pretty much everyone closes up for Christmas, so they will have that.

One of the retailers was open last Christmas. This is the same retailer who started Thanksgiving a few years ago. This year they have expanded their hours.

I don't shop there anymore.

Better to be open on Christmas than on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is an important holiday to the nation.

I just watched a report of yesterday's activities. Several retailers stated they didn't want to open and force their employees to work but their competition was opening and they couldn't afford to lose those potential sales.

This behavior is sickening!

I agree; this behavior is sickening.
However, in today's retail world, it's necessary.

There used to be laws restricting sales on holidays. The employees being forced to work have little or no voice. It's a national holiday. Employees should have it off. Those that do have to work such as police, firemen, nurses, etc., should receive holiday pay.

Is this the path to the American Dream? We are losing our cultural identity as we march down the path toward a society based purely on commercialism. This is the same path that willingly gave away our higher-paying jobs to foreign companies to sell us cheaper versions of the things we used to make here.

At some point we need to say no more! I don't want to live in an America where the majority of my fellow citizens are working low-paying service/retail jobs, have no health care, and their children are growing up in families where no one is around because they have to work 24/7 because that's what "the market" demands.

Laws? Laws? That sounds like (omigod!) R E G U L A T I O N!!!

Have you not been keeping up? Regulation is the source of all evil.

And who would write those laws? Gubbermint! The cause of all the evil.

Just ask any of the morons on here who get their education from Talk Radio. They would love to explain all that to you.

By the time this is done, those employees/Corporate Serfs will be happy to just get to stay on Corporate Property of the Corporate Estates where they once were free men.

Teddy Roosevelt understood the dangers of unbriddled capitalism. We've set back the calander 100 years.

This is the type of lunacy this behavior breeds.
