What is a Cafeteria (insurance) plan? Is it like a flexible spending account, where you put money into an account from your paycheck pre-tax, and then can use that money for approved medical purposes?

My experience with it is that you are offered a listing of features, and you choose those that best fit your needs up to the dollar value of your plan. Each feature has a cost associated with it, and you have an overall cost ceiling.

A cafeteria plan is a flex spending plan or section 125 plan. Here's more info.
