I've got this phone call today about some governemt agency saying that they are giving away grant money for either college, housing or personal use.

The signal on my phone went out on me before any further information was explained to me, but right before that the lady said about me using my credit card to complete an application process for free money.

Is this grant thing legit or a scam?

Absolutely a scam. No matter what the caller or your Caller ID said, there is no government agency making unsolicited calls to people to give them money.

If you still have the phone number you can look them up at www.whocalled.us. good chance that other people have already reported on the caller.

Scam. There would be no reason for them to need your credit card info.

There are legitimate ways to get grants for college (see your schools financial aid office) and housing (HUD). You can get "personal" money if you are eligible for welfare.
