My neighbor is an RN and needs a liability policy in order to administer my allergy shots (thereby saving me hundreds or thousands of dollars in office visits, plus gas and time to go to the allergist) - so I want to help her find a policy that is as cheap as possible. Any suggestions on where to look? She's not practicing but has kept her license up to date so the only use of the policy would be for me.

I'm not a nurse, but at least with other healthcare providers, the national professional association often provides good coverage at some of the better rates. A quick web search shows the American Nurses Association offers liability insurance, and claims that is offers discounts for 'part time practice.' Would be worth checking out?

If she is a member of a professional organization, she can call that organization and check to see who they have discounted rates with.

if she doesn't belong to a professional organization, ask her why not. <SMILE>

NSO is an organization that offers different kinds of malpractice for nurses at very reasonable rates. My Mom had a policy through them when she was volunteering for the red cross at various disasters. She wanted to make sure she had her own coverage in case she stepped out of bounds of what the red cross would cover. In any event, if I recall correctly, a policy was something like $125 a year or something low like that.

Professional Liability Insurance for nurses, nursing medical malpractice.

She isn't practicing any more, she does other things now, but has kept her nursing certificate current and this will save me a ton of money (and she's a good friend and doesn't mind helping me out) so I appreciate the replies so far. $90/year sounds incredible!

Thanks, all, she found one through NSO for about $106, so we're good. I'll save that much in under 2 weeks by not having to go in to the office for shots! This is great!
