while clearing 2000.00 of debt ....we have no loans, no other cards....would a small secured credit card hellp build up our fico score......

Even without the (rather modest) debt issue you have...
you NEED to have a credit card.

If a secured card is the only way to get it... that's what you do.
Then USE it... and pay it off promptly.

Just don't run up a balance on it!
