Great infoI am pretty close to a lot grocery store owners, always wanted to ask them about the in and outs of there business. I am always wondering how they make money. I do not see items flying off the shelves, and the items are cheap considering how much rent they pay. It seems they make most sales from freshly made deli sandwiches. What kind of licenses do you need? Should we start similar threads for every brick and mortar?

What kind of license will depend on your particular locality.

Some will require a license for just about anything you care to name. Fresh Food, cigarettes, beer, wine, etc. etc, Find out for YOUR area. What works for others, may not work for you.

If you have a public restroom, you may have to have handicapped access.

I thought about buying a convenience store.....worked at a couple of different ones for years....found it kinda interesting.

One thing to factor in........wow, you have to really watch the employees.......they(some) will steal you blind given the chance.
