This is a no brainer. The oil, most of which is a natural resource belonging to the American citizens is exploited by private corporations for profit with little or no benefit to the people. The only real exception to this is the Citizens of Alaska who get a miniscule crumb of the pie.
So yes any oil that is sold offshore should be taxed in order to redistribute some of the trillions of dollars of earnings made by oligarchs to the people who actually own the resource.

How would taxing this exported oil help us in the U.S.? Do we have a shortage of supply of oil in the U.S.? There's valid reasons why we import oil. We can't consume all of the oil we exctract for a variety of reasons.

You do realize that many Americans work for said corporations and make very good incomes. In fact I wish I worked for Chevron or Exxon because I've heard their corporate culture is excellent (in terms of work/life balance and perks) and their compensation/benefits generous.

Also, the "oil" industry in the US encompasses hundreds of small and mid cap companies across development, extraction, refining, manufacturing, and distribution. The giants are few and far between.

Taxing oil exports will do nothing but raise the price of oil. So all of that redistributed income will simply flow right back to the top. That's not a solution.

Hey give me trillions of dollars of the citizens property and I will provide a few jobs too!
Bottom line is there are one hell of a lot of fat cats making bank off the citizens property and giving nothing back. Thats just the way it is, and if you defend it you are just as big a pant load as the criminals doing it.

Well for one thing the money could be used to shore up Social Security so that the people who paid into it for their whole lives could actually collect.
Or they could use it to help get the mentally ill people off the streets, or job training programs for the tens of millions of people who have been displaced by Wall St. criminal activities.
There is a multitude of things the money could be used for to help regular people instead of purchasing yachts and limousines or providing obscene bonuses for criminals in the oil industry.

Why do you think you have rights to oil that isn't on YOUR LAND and YOU DON'T OWN ANY MINERAL RIGHTS to?

You are basically saying that because it is in America, all Americans have a right to it. By your logic, everything that exists in America belongs to everyone.

The oil belongs to whichever entity owns the MINERAL RIGHTS. Just as your house belongs to whoever is on the DEED. You must not believe in property rights too...

He's a tool. Free market is a two-way street. It's another pathetic attempt from the imbecile tripod to discredit the current administration. Just partisan rants.

The majority of these assets are taken from public lands which are leased to corporations (oil, mining, timber) often for as little as $1 a year. The mineral rights are the property of the citizens of the US. The government is not the owner of public lands, the citizens are. Now mineral rights on private property is a different matter.
Apparently you are woefully ignorant of how during the oil booms in Texas and Oklahoma private property owners were denied the right to drill oil on their own land because Rockefeller and the like controlled criminal politicians and passed laws depriving land owners of their rights.
Perhaps you would like to get on your soapbox and stand up for those people.

The administration need no help discrediting themselves. And for that matter, neither do you.

The government issues these leases because the American people elect politicians who want to issue them. If the American people didn't want the leases issued on federal lands, they have the option of electing someone else.
Fact facts-- the majority of American people want a cheap supply of oil and gas, and the only way for this to occur is for more drilling here at home.
