Back when the unemployment rate was 5% people said that if things got bad enough, Americans would work the same jobs that illegals did at that time. When unemployment hit 10% the Farm Workers advertised they would provide jobs to anyone. No one took them up on that offer. Sure we could triple the wages, but that would drive the farmers out of business as more produce was imported from cheaper sources.

My wife works in a school in the suburbs of Chicago, the vast majority of the people who are on the free lunch program are not illegals, most are white people. Yeah, we got problems. And as usual, we got scapegoats!

Funny, but I did not see any advertisements for such farm jobs. Not one,not on Craigslist, not the Sunday classifieds, none.
I'm sure of they really wanted to reach out to unemployed Americans, they would.
Instead they just half ass advertise and then say"no citizens have applied" when they know good and well they didn't even try to reach citizens.

One field which has gone down considerably is doing Post Doc in Science/Engineering and trying to get Academic Employment. The sheer number of Post docs and Ph.D. students from countries like India, China, South Korea is amazing. I read somewhere that there are 90000 post docs in US. and this oversupply has kept the salaries at low level. A typical post doc salary in-hand per month is about 1800 to 2000 dollars which is pathetic. That is for those who have done their Ph.D. from USA. the greed of professors is such that now they are even importing more postdocs from India, China who have done their Ph.D.s in their countries and importing them on J-1 visa and giving them pathetic stipends like 1400 dollars per month.

That's because post-doc academia has turned into a stepping stone into future tenured professorships, and professors know this. They know that the reason a lot of these post-doc students are still in academia is because they either enjoy the academic environment or they are still trying to find a job in this economy or are over-qualified.

So, professors will essentially use them to enhance their own stature first and promise that eventually they'll sponsor the post-doc for full tenure.

However, I do think it is up to the student to choose their professor. I have known both great and poor professors to study under and not all of them are greedy. Many have to pay for some of their own research out of pocket and they have their own BS to deal with (i.e. gotta publish, or else, etc).

Personally I think professors should be judged / paid on the level of their contribution to the financial success of the university. This can come either through connections with industry who need research done, or through publishing important results which enhance the university's name.

There is no pay in the future. Money becomes obsolete under a Military police state filled with chipped worker citizens that are fed by the Fed.

Assimilation is absolute

Resistance is futile

The jobs will be in tech for the foreseeable future or at least in my lifetime. This is the golden age of tech, especially mobile and infrastructure.
Re-newable energy and Bio Tech will also be in there.

So no,it isn't nursing that's for sure. But,on the flip side Cna wages have increased from 9 an hr to about 10.50 an hr.
So far, the cuts in Medicaid/Medicare have been gently precipitous, and as the funds continue to dry up, more watchdog groups, pay cuts will be in order for the health care profession. And, as to be expected, we start defaulting on our foreign debt, there will be a call for Death Counselors, euthanasia consultants.

And along with our foreign debt defaults, we will no longer be able to pay the tab to keep 6 million in our jails & prisons, resulting in releases, resulting in the call for private security guards?

Trust me the minute you see cuts in pay for healthcare professionals the minute you will see the bottom fall out of whatever quality is still left in American hospitals. NURSES are THE backbone of the healthcare industry. They keep everything flowing and are responsible for providing patient care. Trust me......the average America baby boomer that ends up spending the last years of their pathetic existence does not want a high paid high quality American trained nurse being supplanted by some third worlder with an accent. Not only that many hospitals are dropping ADN nurses for the more advanced BSN educated nurse. Healthcare is a disaster financially. Most hospitals are operating on financial fumes. We better get our **** together when it comes to healthcare or we will all suffer.

The American economy is never coming back. Way too many overqualified, underqualified people graduating from colleges. And colleges are pumping thousands of graduates out every semester. EVERY YEAR MILLIONS graduate college. LMAO! Do the f'ing math you idiots! There aren't even enough jobs for the millions that have been laid off in the last few years. America is becoming a third world country as the middle class is deboned and plundered and pillaged. There will be the haves and the have nots. And a small segment of the population working like dogs pretending one day they will make it into the "haves" country club.

You are unfortunately very wrong about the US prison sytem. We are sending more people to prison than ever before. And the US prison system is becoming more privatized than ever before. Scary! Americans better wake up before they find themselves living in Hitler's Germany or Musssolini's Italy.
