Vandalism and knuckleheadness don't really relate to the economy. People stealing wire and cable and other metal for salvage, that sort of thing does.
If those wimpy little dorks wanted the chips( and paid for them but they got stuck) then its a simple matter of bouncing the machine. If they're bolted together then two guys should be able to do it.
