To answer the question, bankruptcies can issue under any of Chapters 7. 9. 11, 12, 13, and 15, but the common choice for a simple personal bankruptcy is Chapter 7.

Six.
7- Liquidation. Used, simple bankrupty. Take everything and liquidate it and apportion. Used by individuals and corporations.
9 - Municipal
11 - Reorganization. Used for a company that can't pay its debts but is otherwise still sound. Seldom used by wealth individuals to keep possession of some assets, generally doesn't work as creditors want them.
12 - Agribus is big, so farmers get special rules.
13 - Rehabilitation. Has some advantages, like being eligible for FHA home loans in two years of discharge.
15 - Weird stuff. Foreign nationals. Aliens.
