The larger the government, the lower standards of living for their people. (In terms of GDP spending).

Dont forget that when "as a percent of GDP" is used as the Y-axis, it would make the debt appear to be increasing even if it were the holding at the same amount. That is because of the drop in GDP associated with a recession. That graph would look far different if the Y-axis were time based.

Not that I endorse increasing the debt, but that graph needs to be viewed in the proper perspective.

I just fell into this here thread, and even tho someone said people who talk like me are idiots, I would like to say that ALL ECONOMIC INDICATORS say we're doing better. Google around not just at the Wall Street Journal, but also ANY publication that is devoted to economics, grahs on economics, Richard Reich's opinions read that for a couple weeks, stay on the left side of mainstream because I say so. YOu can look at the right and get a whole different planet. Just give it a shot, left, Democratic, or true, any of those will do.

Now, there's been just one problem with our economic growth: It's been a little slow. But guess what? This is DESPITE the Republican dedicated idea that if they hate the President and Dems enough, and misuse the fillibuster to prevent perfectly normal and good bills, including MANY to do with improving the economy, a historic number of bills were shelved in the Senate. But you think we got the majorit. But because of the fillibuster, we ain't got enouh votes to bring it to the floor (60), and we got something like 53 Dems or so, and thus the wholesale, complete dedication of Repubs not to agree with the Dems. Now, mind you, there were some VERY GOOD jobs bills, infusing money into big, small businesses, investments into ways to get us the heck off oil (very expensive is oil, more expensive than creating a self-materializing fuel cell = zero cost), and yet those scoundrels, the Repubs ran on a platform of needing more jobs, and GUESS WHAT!?! People actually voted enough Dems out and Repubs in that NOTHING comes to the floor, until just after the second general election (and of course midterms). Why? Becuz they know if they don't do something positive, they'll lose in the next midterms.

Now, anothe REALLY big problem is REVENUE, that's r-e-v-e-n-u-e. This means money. It comes into the coffers of the Treasury by way of taxes. Out of every earner's paycheck comes Federal Tax Monies, certain percentages. Joe Blow, who has nohing, pays a healthy amount. But BILLIONAIRES (nevermind millionaires, just kick that idea off the bus) pay practically nothing. if ONLY they paid HALF what Eisenhower's bunch did (90 percent) and 45 percent of their cash (still too little in an economy SUPPOSEDLY in such a dreadful crisis), we could practically pay off the whole stooopid national debt/deficit in a few years.

YES, IMAGINE THAT! Why, if a bunch of CEOs got together and turned in all their tax cuts (what? billioanires get tax cuts? yow-suh, yow-suh, have you seen Stella, she walks, she talks, she crawls on her belly like a reptile), our debt would be GONE. Any volunteers? One time there was . When George Bush was stupidly advised to instead of paying off our debts with the surplus Clinton (Dem) handed over to him, to give big business TAX CUTS, many economic experts say, (the unnecessary war and too-long war aside, under a diff debtage), we would have zero debt now. A bunch of CEOs come down and turned their tax cuts back into the Treasury, to SHOW how they felt about it. Just daydream about that for a while.

In the meantime, when MIDTERM ELECTIONS COME, VOTE DEMS. That's all ya gotta do. This one time, vote Dem. You only got to look at it go one way or the other for two years. And I guarantee if you keep this in your favs, check it until this time two years from now, which is summer 2015, just six months after the upcoming midterms, and see how our economy is making out, I PROMISE YOU, me, THE ORACLE of common sense, the economy will be moving forward so rapidly that Europe will ask us to please advise them on how the hell did we do it, becuz if you think it's bad here, just go over there for a few months. They are in true wreckage and this is NOT good for peace on earth in our lifletimes.

Oh, Obama will give it as relates to us right after the mid-terms, just as he will FINALLY get some sort of sensible version of a health reform bill for sure in place (signed three or so years ago), and he will get us the finest, cheapest fuel cell version of our cars ALL OVER the highways, rapid mass transit on the move in the NE states and being set up everywhere else in the country, and really pretty much eerything you hate about everythign WILL STOP and we'll be free.

But what WE WANT, too, is THE BEST. Right now, we have amongst THE WORST. And yes, ladies and gentlemen, this ruin has been brought to you entirely by the Republicans. The ONLY reason any economics are left in our country is what the President has been able to do through his Executive Branch Acts, these are like laws the President can put into effect that will SAVE US from the cruel, mean, disgusting, annoying, freaked-out Republican bunch. Oh, what an awful gang. Just hate 'em, you know!? The worst of it is, Boehner actually likes the President, they're buds of sorts, but Boehner got where he did, Speaker, by vote and he wants to keep it that way. It meant a lot to him. I kind of wish he wold run for President, but of course Joe Biden is gonna win, thank heavens. Finally someone who is not so polite that he won't TELL US WHAT I'M TELLING YOU.

So, save this little here thing for mid-summer 2014, look at how things are going, and if the Dems win majority of House and 60 members in Congress, "Yo gonna see somethin yo ain't never seen befo." And just a small tip... Iran will "surrender" in some form, be it stopping the bomb, eradicating bomb, or we withdraw it whether they like it or not IN ONE or TWO NIGHTs. But first all wars we're in will have STOPPED, Terrorism will practically liquify overnight, and more Democratically elected Mid-East countries will exist than Dictatorships. Peace in ou lifetimes, people. Ever heard a Republican talk like that? OF COURSE NOT. They're too busy re-hashing old economic drone and drone and droning on of hash we've heard before. And our poor Pres is mighty busy responding in a positive way... before he can begin to let us know, helps is on the way, right from the people of our country. When 2014 rolls around, time to get some Dems into Congress, enough to let the Pres do what he needs to do in two years, which he shoud have had a total of eight. But as smart-alecky as the Repubs are, they're going up agains one of he greaest minds in the country. VOTE DEM!!! Just risk it for two years. Please, now, give it up. Jus two years. gg
