Nope... There are none. Looking for such is why we have most of these problems.
Anyone willing to entertain the longer duration, more painful, difficult... step to the front.

why is the gap something that needs to be focused on? why is it a problem?

what if the gap gets greater but more people on the lower end are doing better? is it still bad because the gap is growing?

Doesn't matter!!!

I want my Lambo too!!!!

Most people can't see the world like this. It is a fixed pie to them. If you have more, I have to have less.

The funny thing is value is created every day and everyone ignores it. Did the Google founders take money from someone else when they invented Google? Where was that part of the pie before? Or was the pie expanded to include them?

Why would anyone ask this question without reading history and do some research?
Communism, do you ever read history.
Read communism history in Cuba, North Korea, VietNam, CHina, East Europe and Soviet Union....

Next, drive to Detroit City and see it through your own eyes.

#1,2,3 & 4. Actually these things help reduce the gap. When rich people waste their money on such things, they become poorer and thus close the gap. Similarly, when poor people save, they become richer and close the gap.

#5 Not sure what you are getting at there.

And may the force be with you.

There's only two ways that inequality can be reduced.
1) Raise taxes on the wealthy. This tax increase will also indirectly impact the middle and lower classes through fewer job opportunities due to reduced incentive to invest, some of the taxes will be passed on through higher products costs, and lower wages paid to the middle and lower classes to pass through some of the taxation. Investors only actually care about after tax investment returns. Thus when taxes go up, it indirectly is passed on to everyone. Although, the impact of raising taxes on the wealthy will disproportionately impact the target of the tax increase.
Result: The rich are poorer, but so is everyone else.

2) Increase education levels. Leads to greater efficiencies in the economy and gains for everyone. Also, it puts downward pressure on high income earners as more gain the skills to fulfill those jobs and increases pressure to increase wages at the lower end due to the diminishing supply of these workers.
Result: It takes longer to accomplish, but it beneficial for everyone.

I think we need to find out what caused the gap. Is it something cause by people on just one side of the gap, and if so, which side caused it? Was what they have done to create this gap, fair and equitable?
