MONROEVILLE, Pa. - A western Pennsylvania woman won $100 plus court costs after she sued Kmart for twice collecting sales tax on a nontaxable necessity: toilet paper.

Mary Bach, of Murrysville, said Kmart offered to settle the case out of court before a Thursday hearing at which a Monroeville district judge sided with her. But the settlement required her to sign a confidentiality agreement, which would have defeated the purpose of her suit, Bach said.

I'm just outside of Monroeville and fail to understand what point she was trying to make. Her $100 will buy lots of toilet paper but will it compensate her for her time? Nice to know I can go to Kmart though and not pay taxes on toiletpaper.

Ahh, now I get it.. thats the reason for Sears / Kmarts 99% drop in profits.. they had to pay this lady $100

I'm with the woman. It's absolutely ridiculous that someone should have to pay a tax on toilet paper. Good for her!
