I've always wondered why companies don't offer their hourly employees the option of receiving compensation in the form of stock. Here's the way it worked. For every $10,000 dollars you made, one share of stock was given to you. You could also have money withdrawn from your check to purchase addition stock.
Many larger companies offer employee stock ownership programs for ALL employees (at least all full-time or almost full-time).
