I am trying to compare mean wages per country, but I see a number of different values thrown out purporting to represent this. Which one would be closest to representing the yearly income of the average person in a country?
Also I know within a country average wage will likely have a significant variation if both urban and rural areas are present. Is there any website that collates this information for multiple countries, or would I have to look at government reports for each country?
We do not use mean when describing income. The super-rich are outliers that heavily distort the statistic. Median is more accurate. Half of folks make more, half of folks make less.
