So? Even if you're correct (you aren't btw)...
aside from the object lesson and knowing what NOT to do or keep doing..
how we got in the hole is almost immaterial.

We're here. What will we do about the MILLIONS (tens of millions) more people available
than are needed to maintain our present infrastructure and get the other needed work done?

Their presence is the #1 reason why the next batch of millions can't earn enough.
Or get training. Or have a path to advancement. Or the right hours.
Which then impacts on the following batch of millions next up on the food chain.

It's part of the problem though. With jobs that were cut either to send to China, India and other nations, letting go redundant labor or not replacing workers when they depart for another firm or retire, those jobs aren't coming back.
Another part of the problem is those on social security that have trashed 401ks now have to work while receiving social security to stay a float. That and now you tap into thirteen years before the average person dies compared to the average person dying about eight years before they could tap in when the program was first invented.
As for getting skills, don't you think people have done that? If everyone got skills while unemployed or underemployed the ratio of workers to available jobs is STILL 5 to 1.
