It seems to me you explained that at the start of another thread. Aren't you worried that your job will be phased out by automation?

Why can't they just laugh at people on welfare and be proud of that?

Yep. But as long as my net worth and investment carry me I secretly don't care. I'm glad I'm better off than those underemployed people who have no safety net of property/investments.

What a strange notion. Why would someone with money laugh at those who are on welfare?

Actually it seems to work the other way. Many very wealthy people seem to develop a sense of guilt and spend huge sums on philanthropy. Certainly that happened with Rockefeller and Gates.

And this is another thing I don't get. Why does other people's wealth have anything to do with one's own happiness? Who cares if someone has 1,000,000 times more wealth than me? If I have enough, then I have enough. It's stupid to let other people's possessions rob you of your own happiness.

Once you get stuck into comparing your possessions and wealth with others and caring about the result, you will never be happy.

What I'm saying is why compare themselves to their peers and constantly feel pressure about it when instead they can compare themselves to the less fortunate and feel great about it...

Well if you have a decent income and a good safety net with your investments, perhaps you should look at other aspects of your life. Beyond having enough money to carry you until you die, what is it you want to do and accomplish with your life?

Or it could be a combination of PR and tax write offs.

When I get enough I want to move to a secluded place like Palm island Miami with a few cabana girls serving me drinks while I sit by the pool side. Maybe ill take a cruise or two. I can wrap it up with land lording to keep me in shape.

And what is it that you want to accomplish with your life, or does that notion not even make sense to you?
