I went from making nothing to a fair sum of money. I save virtually every cent and I am fearful of spending even a little bit. How do you explain that?
It seems to me you explained that at the start of another thread. Aren't you worried that your job will be phased out by automation?
Because keeping up with the Joneses exists at virtually all levels of money.
Someone with a net worth of $1 billion might feel inadequate when he starts seeing other people in his social circles with $5 billion, $20 billion, $50 billion, etc.
Why can't they just laugh at people on welfare and be proud of that?

Yep. But as long as my net worth and investment carry me I secretly don't care. I'm glad I'm better off than those underemployed people who have no safety net of property/investments.

Actually it seems to work the other way. Many very wealthy people seem to develop a sense of guilt and spend huge sums on philanthropy. Certainly that happened with Rockefeller and Gates.

And this is another thing I don't get. Why does other people's wealth have anything to do with one's own happiness? Who cares if someone has 1,000,000 times more wealth than me? If I have enough, then I have enough. It's stupid to let other people's possessions rob you of your own happiness.
Once you get stuck into comparing your possessions and wealth with others and caring about the result, you will never be happy.

When I get enough I want to move to a secluded place like Palm island Miami with a few cabana girls serving me drinks while I sit by the pool side. Maybe ill take a cruise or two. I can wrap it up with land lording to keep me in shape.
