Isn't there a sub-cesspool in Politics & Other Controversies where immigrant-haters are supposed to go?
It's lilely that NONE of them are immigrants.
Wealthy Asians send their children to American universities to study. Then they return to their own countries to work. They do as their parents tell them to. Their GRE's are 800 in math and 325 in verbal. They live together in off-campus housing and watch TV to learn English. They will invite you over to eat any night, just to have you converse with them in English. They don't have sex. They make good friends while they are here. They will share their lunch with you - scrambled eggs mixed with rice, vegetables, and chopped hot dogs.
They don't seem especially intelligent outside of math. Don't ask me how I know.
Statistics is relatively easy compared to most advanced math classes, though yes requires dedicated work. Plenty of those in "Big Data" do not have a statistics degree, but picked up the knowledge by taking some statistics classes and related fields that use a lot of applied statistics. It's unclear if these students are foreign students or Asian-American students; I'd assume most though not all are foreign students. A Master's degree in statistics has more value for someone who is coming from China than an American with a university degree. And compared to many other STEM fields, statistics has a better job benefit to time commitment and difficulty ratio.
Who are these people exactly? I have yet to hear anybody make such a ridiculous sweeping statement concerning immigrants. I have worked along side many productive LEGAL immigrants. They seem to agree that ILLEGAL immigration is a huge burden on this nation that we cannot afford.
Personally, I agree with you -- I have worked along side many productive legal immigrants also, and count some among my friends.
But I stand behind my statement. For example, look thru of the CD forums involving politics, current events, immigration, and states with large immigrant populations and there is a lot of anti-immigrant sentiment in general, whether they're legal or not. Some of it may be justified, some not. I think a lot depends on whether people think their jobs are threatened. Others are concerned about terrorism, and still others complain about cultural changes in their communities.
I call bogus, no way someone had quintopolits? who all graduated college the same year......
The same 3 or so last names you see on that list are the Chinese equivalents of Smith, Miller, and Cooper..... I don't think seeing 10 Smiths on that list would lead you to assume they were related
Bonus points if you can guess who the 2 Koreans, 1 Japanese, and 1 Taiwanese are
Sadly, they are taking American college seats from Americans who paid for their education.
Do they need help packing?
They are also paying full price for their educations, allowing schools like MIT to grant more scholarships to American kids (and I'm sure more than a few of those Asian-named kids are American born).

I don't see the problem.
(Also: lol at the word "quintopolits").
1) What makes you think they are paying full price for their educations? and,
2) Even if they do pay full price, why would paying full price to Columbia allow MIT to grant more scholarships?
