Hi All - I'm doing my taxes and I need the EIN for a camp my son went to during the summer for the Child Care writeoff. I've phoned them and they're not returning my call and it's not on their website. Is there some online searchable database of EIN's? Any advice?

Thanks

If they are incorporated you can check the secretary of state website where they are incorporated and it should be listed on there. The problem would be is that they might not be incorporated as the name of the camp or in the state where the camp is held but it is worth a try.

I would not worry too much about them not answering. Summer Camps tend to go VERY short staff over the Winter months (makes sense, huh?). But most have a Winter custodian, who at least checks on the place once a week or so, and who would be a local to the area, and they would know the contact information. I would call the local town Chamber of Commerce, or some other local town folks, and someone will know how to get hold of the real people.

All businesses have be authorized to operate. If it's not incorporated, then it has to register as an LLC, DBA, etc. Contact the secretary of state.

thanks to those who answered - i got a hold of someone who personally knows the owner (it's a year round sports organization, not a summer camp per se) and he gave me his email. the guy responded right away.
