Cars can still be had cheap - Nissan Versa for about $14K.
The actual cheapest Colorado I saw in my area was about $27,000. Of course it's a much nicer truck than what dad bought, but it's nearly three times as expensive.
Don't doctors have families? Does everyone get mad if the kid is sick?
Yes and yes. As a physician, it's patients first, personal life second. Needless to say, it's not always possible to do that, but it is what is expected.
But doctors don't need an expensive car, they need a reliable car (just like most people). "Expensive" and "reliable" are two different things.
You could just get a rental as well. Last time I had a car failure when I needed to be at work for a critical customer audit, I got a rental. Took all of 10 minutes to set up and they ran the car out to me too. Cost me under $50 for the day.
When you are caught in a crappy situation, you either complain about it, or make stuff happen.
Kind of sucks when $25,000-$30,000 doesn't get you much anymore. And if you have a couple "new car" payments, then you are almost paying an extra mortgage.
I bought my truck new in 2010 for $30,000 . . now I believe the same options Chevy Silverado would be over $40,000 ... there is no way I would do that .. I thought I was being crazy paying $30,000
and god forbid you need a diesel for your needs. ... geeze 60k new now ?!?!
Really, Chase doesn't do much auto loan business? My used car loan is through Chase, because I brought my financing to the dealer and they beat it. It's 2.9% for 5 years and will be paid off this December.
On the busy boulevards near here, I'm amazed at the number of new MBs, Audis, BMWs, Lexuses, Acuras, Porsches, Maseratis, Land Rovers and Jaguars. I usually see at least one Ferrari per day. Of course, Escalades are very popular as well.
It seems any moron can lease a fancy car.
Car payments on the cars you have listed I am betting are a lot more. A lease for a Maserati is over $600 in our area.
