Hunger is a natural outcome of lack of food, strong examples going back to the beginning of mankind in any and all regions, economies, and politics.

Precisely.
Why do you think there is plenty of time for art and music, but no time for investing classes.

Required course, probably not. Most likely an elective.

The amount of food that is wasted in this country could feed the hungry, no need to even start about income inequality and all that.
Agree with you.....far too much waste

We have to start from the beginning for this mindset to be useful. Me getting fatter is not going to help a starving child.

Hahah - yup - that's what they do in Texas...they skip s#x ed...evolution...Holocaust ...who knows what else, all in the name of SOCIALISM.

I'd say it's the conservatives who want idiots for citizens...and they're certainly succeeding.

Investing is a racket. Art and music are parts of the culture.

I volunteer at three food banks. Nobody coming in for free food is skinny. They all have smart phones and nice cars. About 30-50% of the clients at the distribution centers appear to be undocumented aliens and they aren't skinny and they all have smart phones and decent cars.
Studies have shown that when you drug test those in social service programs, less than 5% test positive for any kind of drugs.

If you think food banks are so worthless and abused, WTH do you keep volunteering - don't you have anything better to do?

This is one of the reasons why "laissez faire" is such a bad idea. If you don't grab the reins of an economy, it will simply take you where you do not want to go.

Some need the comfort of corrupt stereotypes that absolve them of any responsibility for things and dump all the blame onto somebody else.

In the real world, food banks are among the most important things that one can support.

Well, I see the same thing where I volunteer, unfortunately. I also volunteer at our recovery program. Food banks are not worthless, but some people do abuse them, trying to go to as many as possible to get food to sell.

Just trying to help folks in the community, I've always believed food is the most basic and best way to help.
