in May. In the past consistent losses in this sector was followed by a recession. Also on the second chart I posted it shows the RSI(relative strength index) of the retail non-farm payroll sector. It is currently at 68, I see continued downside to this sector.
Retail stores are outdated and dying a natural death, online shopping is killing it off.
Its not indicative of a recession, its the opposite, it shows how the online sales are booming.
Hmmm. Is that 6,100 jobs lost (seasonally adjusted) out of something around 15,000,000? If so, that might well be a noise record. I note that a further 2,100 jobs were lost (seasonally adjusted) in wholesale trade. Perhaps trade in general is coming to an end?

I took my wife to 2 stores to buy her something. No one was at the counter of either store.
I can go online and get the same item cheaper and not have to beg someone to help me.

Same here, trying to get served at auto part stores is wait and wait.
Many times I leave the stuff on the counter and walk out, online is a breeze unless you need it right now, easier and usually cheaper.

Yes, the jobs are just shifting from one sector to another, and those that chose the wrong career need to realize it and make a move before it's too late. here are two cities in our area where support for the growing online trade means 1,000 new jobs each. The pay starts at $14, a step up from the typical retail store.
Like many variables (and people on the bus), this one goes up and down.
