medicare and an f-plan supplement in our area is 10k for a couple . figuring inflation on that over 25-30 years i can see it being close , especially with some long term care thrown in which may not be covered by medicare

all i know is as of sept 1 that national ponzi scheme will be delivering 40k a year in checks to us .

You and I will get our checks. My daughter is 30 years away from FRA, providing it's not raised. She's not going to get anywhere near what we do, if she even gets anything.

she has 30 years to prepare and save for retirement as well...

You can say you did too when you were 35, but "fairness" isn't something that really matters

if she doesn't have enough in retirement, is it fair? Or does she have to do what she needs now to make sure she has enough?

"fair" doesn't get things done, she gotta do what she gotta do to make sure she ends up how she wants

I am very tired of folks saying social Security will go broke. Just eliminate the cap on taxable income and apply it to all income from all sources including corporate retained profit and the Social Security system could become a National Pension.
