Suffice it to say you clearly don't know many scientists.

Sure capital won’t be relocated to solve the problem as fast, but who cares?

Edit: there will be money, and funding for universities will still come. Also this wage argument is false.
Right. We are now talking about magical place where people are happy to work hard just for the fun of it.

Why would they do so? Because they have more free time? How come we currently have so many slackers under capitalism when people can still be rewarded for a hard work? Are you saying if everyone works for the same reward - they will work harder than they do now?
Why? Because you say so?

Not at all, no need to twist my words. People will still be compensated for their work, depending on what the works is, etc.

Scientists are different, like Tesla they do it because of the freedom it gives them, and the social capital. If the have food, water, and shelter, many would love to work.

As to why it is the way it is now. That is a complicated question. Firstly the nature of work is owned by capitalists, which makes the relationship between work and life an opposing one. More so, scientific discoveries are different from other works, and not all have the education to participate.

To develop cure for cancer you need thousands of people working on it in just one lab. Scientists, technicians, blue collar workers. To get something working - you cannot rely on 'many' that would love to work. You need discipline. You need everyone to show up every day, year after year. No slacking. One Tesla is not going to do this.
So how do you envision the lab is going to produce something when everyone is free to do whatever they feel like? Are you saying they are going to work for food for 20 years just for social capital? And what that capital means, exactly? A pin on the short so everyone admire you?

So my question stands: why do you think all these 1000 people will work harder for food than they work right now for a decent above average pay that provides them with comfortable living?
ARe you saying they will work harder because they will be happy working for the state (for food) than as right now working for capitalists (for above average pay that allows them to get much more than food)? REally?

They’ll be working for themselves. The workers, both blue and white will own the facility will work better as everything is theirs. And it is not like they won’t receive any wages, just that it would be distributed democratically.

The funding, like now, will come from money and capital investment by community councils, individuals, and syndicates (who benefit from their research.

But clearly OP lives in a different universe , so it would be interesting to know how things magically appear there and everyone is free.
It's fun to read the replies though. I love professional trolling occasionally.

You do understand the US government competed with the Soviets through public funding, not private capitalism?

Lol, I have more than explained and justified everything I’ve said.
