Because of my anal nature, I prefer computing taxes down to the penny, rather than "rounding" to the nearest whole dollar. Thus, I've always done paper filing rather than electronic which requires rounding up for 50-99 cents, and down for 1-49 cents.

For 2018, I joined the electronic crowd for both federal and state returns. The state return was accepted and posted to direct deposit within three days. The IRS return was accepted, but the refund was six cents less than my computation!! In other words, instead of the whole dollar amt. of my computation that they insist upon, they came up with a refund of $____ . 94!

And no explanation.

With respect (I don't mean this as an insult) I can't imagine getting upset about six cents.

PM me a mailing address and I will send you a check for the 6 cents difference. Otherwise - request an audit.

Talk about people missing the point.

I would have the same complaint if their comp were higher than mine.

Duh.

The point is that they insist on whole dollars, yet use odd cents.

Any of this sinking in?

I get it. But lots of things/site/entities only use whole numbers.
It’s 6 cents. Not an issue in my mind.

Guess, it's hard to explain my point to the two-digit IQ set
