Look guys, I’m continually finding words that I say which are spelled wrong in my head. It happens.

He has a wife that works and he does work part time. The accurate description of this scenario is if a stay at home dad can not go back to a full time job, given he works part time/odd jobs and has a spouse who works. That changes things from what was said in the original post, and makes for a more reasonable conversation.

Where do I work part time?

I’m just a guy that retired in his 20s...then met a girl...then had a child.

Not sure why all the spin...

No spin. You still do things that earn money. That's working at least part time. You said it yourself.

There's nothing wrong with working part time in a single income household. I'm not sure why you didn't clarify that from the start instead of making up a hypothetical scenario.

Incorrect. I was saying the word “work” is meaningless for me because I will simply do what I enjoy. In the future, if what I enjoy produces income so be it. Maybe it’s something crazy like making wood signs to sell at the flea market on Saturday because I like the conversation. Who knows.

I’m still trying to understand how this is a finance topic.

It’s basically a person trolling and/or arguing from a point of pure ignorance in finance painting vague personal scenarios that’s not applicable to 99% of the population.

”~$800k - can you live the rest of your days?”

It doesn’t really get any more simple and financeee than that.

How is that trolling? How is it vague?

It *could* be applicable to millions of people who set a goal and work hard for 15-20 years.

So far, people are finding it too be a difficult question to respond to without thinly veiled insults.

I don’t get it - why attack the person asking? Why try to poison the well instead of answering?

This isn't true at all, it's just more of you trying to convince yourself that you're enlightened, much to the amusement of everyone else.

See above. There are very few posters on this forum who draw an overwhelmingly negative reaction as you do, and much as you try to pretend otherwise it's mainly about your attitude and way of interacting with others. Most others met with almost universal disdain (like pittsflyer, supposn) have similar characteristic of greatly overestimating themselves.
