Are you asking for my approval or need it? I’m not sure what you are looking for. 20k isn’t a desired lifestyle for me either. If 10-20k works for you then work it.

It only took you 212 replies to agree with the professor.

Who is your ISP provider, $15 sounds TGTBT.

Upkeep on your car/home alone would run you at least $500 a month. HVAC, roof, water/sewer line, notoriously weak prius CVT, tires, gaskets, electrical, plumbing, insulation, foundation, irrigation and on and on.
That’s the part he doesn’t ever address. All the real world expenses you brought up his significant other, the one working earning W2 income, pays for.

He’s a fraud.

What $330k home? But if I did live in one the property would only be something like $250/month. Does that sound too good to be true?

One person needs more than $250 in food? Do you grocery shop? For arguments sake lets double it and call it $500/month. Happy? My budget is still happy thaf’s for sure.

Three Ramens per day would be about $0.40 x 30 = $12

Notoriously weak Prius CVT? You trolling?

Gaskets? Come on now.

Tires? Every 3 years or so? So what.

How often are roof, electrical, plumbing and sewer lines replaced? Once every 25-50 years? Hell, most homes built after 1940 or so probably have the original electrical that functions fine.

I’d don’t agree with your lifestyle and don’t need to and for you to call yourself a professor is comical. It’s like a personality disorder where you claim to be a winner over and over again when there’s no competition

Bingo.

My lifestyle is basically middle class so what’s to not agree with?

What’s the difference between say....

A) $50k income/$100k net worth/$40k living expenses (probably close to or better than average at 30-35)

and

B) $25k income/$800k net worth/$10k living expenses

I’ll take scenario B all day.

P.s. keep in mind that $50k income in the south is like school teachers/nurses/cops with 15+ years experience. Perhaps equivalent to $70-80k+ in high COL areas.

I don’t like to compare myself with average so maybe that where I find choice A flawed. Additionally I have more choices than A or B in your scenario so I’m not limited by your best case scenario either as I am currently in much better shape than that

And yet I couldn’t care less what kind of footnotes you add. That’s not going to change my opinion. I don’t live in a hcol or a small town so your continued comments surrounding this searching for approval and words of congratulations aren’t coming

The insurance companies that write policies in Florida say that in areas where asphalt shingle roofs are allowed by code, they need to be replaced every 15 years. A non-conforming roof will turn that $1500/year insurance policy into a $3800+/year one.

The roof we had put on in 2018 ran $12k for an average-sized ranch house conforming to FL building code standards for windstorm

My roof was replaced for around $3k and I’m in NC.

P.s - I find it hard to believe a roof can’t be done on a simple ranch for under $10k in FL (or almost anywhere).
