The world should be according to pitt. There are laws. You also want laws according to pitt. And zoning according to pitt. And people who behave according to the logic of pitt.

It must be frustrating for you that the world does not work the way you believe it should.

The political window is starting to shift to where laws like this have better chances of passing. Socialism is gaining ground and I think it could be headed off if companies like this that leave a bad taste in peoples mouths about capitalism are no longer allowed to exist.

Do you want to be living in Venezuela in 5 years? People are not suddenly just going to be ok with predatory business practices just because you make some condescending/disparaging comments. The heart of the socialist's movement is due purely to the behavior of business.

The whole point of this post is that I think, at least in my community, the time is ripe to be able to pass these sorts of laws. The ONLY issue is that these laws have to be written in such a way as to not run afoul of state constitutional issues but simultaneously put these companies completely under and completely out of the public conscience.

OR we can just have massive wealth redistribution and socialism. Notice I dont want to redistribute anyones wealth, I just want them shut down and put in jail (if warrented), their wealth can just be deleted on a computer screen. After all money supply is just the FED playing games anyways and the money is only worth what we agree it is worth.

The political pendulum swings. In my area it already is swinging back away from the socialistic direction.

Amazon was going to build a major center here. Unused warehouses and decaying industrial areas would have been revitalized. Since the warehouses and distribution centers were to be automated the tens of thousands of jobs were actually at a high level with most jobs to pay above $75K. Over the 30 year planning cycle the Amazon deal would have brought in billions of dollars worth of jobs and tax revenue.

Well the local newly elected socialist Congresswoman made a stink. She did not want tax incentives. She did not want a scummy company like Amazon. I think the commotion was largely political to pull attention to her but the response was immediate. Amazon pulled out of the deal. There will be no distribution center in the area. No new jobs. No new property taxes. No spurt of building and development. Instead the old industrial area will continue to decay leaving the residents without good jobs and in fact without enough jobs to support the community which will continue to sink with not bottom in sight.

Pitts, you're just messing with us all now, right? I mean, shutting down successful businesses that your neighbors work and shop at just because you personally don't like them?

Putting metal buildings doing manufacturing in neighborhoods?

I can't think of an easier way to ruin your town's reputation.

Please let us know if you or your friend get elected so we can watch the destruction.

OP- why limit pay to $20 p/hr?

Perhaps every burger flipper should earn $100,000k p/yr.

Take your pick. He is either a troll or so completely self centered and self righteous that he has lost all sense of freedom and legality.

Because if your the lone guy trying to buy american made lap top it will be impossible or prohibitively expensive.
But wait - isn't your whole premise trying to shut down those that offer low wages so things are cheaper for you? You can't have everyone making >$20 and expect to have everything cheap...

The reason that "employers" can get these people is because so many people have these degrees in hopes of not having to work these jobs in the first place. Because we have very little opportunity for actually GOOD jobs in the USA these people are now being forced to start entertaining these mcjobs, very likely grudgingly so. This is why the political climate is so contentious, people DONT want to work these jobs but yet they are being corraled into these jobs none the less due to economic factors (I view it as economic warfare) and they are pissed about it, and rightfully so.

People are trying to educate themselves out of these mcjobs and yet all the economy is producing is low-end service jobs that no one wants to do.
Got news for you - companies aren't created to offer you a cushy job. Jobs are created because business have labor needs in order to produce.

And people have suggested how you can take action. Start your own business in your vision. But you know it doesn't work that way. You're simply trying to change the rules for yourself.

Some minimal amount of low wage jobs are necessary but not like what I have been seeing. McJobs as far as you can scroll on job boards and all over town.
And how do you distinguish one from the other? The Pittsflyer Opinion system?

There is another alternative. There's a word that starts with "S" and rhymes with "upid." Many people point out it cannot be fixed.

John Wayne once said, "Life is hard; it's even harder if you're stupid."

He doesn't work in the private sector; he'll never understand.

Most of the Amazon warehouses have deplorable working conditions with people having to pee themselves and dying from exposure/over work on the warehouse floor, etc.

So Amazon may have alot of cool things its impossible to ignore how they treat their ware house floor people.
