Anywhere.

Why not go to some small town, and invest in it?

I watch a show called Home Town. It’s in Laurel, MS. The last show was about a man with an unlimited budget, moving from Belize. He didn’t know a soul there. He spent $350k, which was about 4x the normal house there. He was looking forward to making a life there. Everybody wins.

Yes, but only in some areas - we lived there for 3 years with no issues - we really enjoyed the area. Mandeville or Covington are nice with very low crime but are on the other side of lake Pontchartrain, some areas closer that are nice is the Garden District, Audubon, Riverside, Metairie and a few other areas.

Buy a small place in Florida live there 6 + months a year to make that your home state and go elsewhere during the hottest months. I know of a few in Minnesota who do that.

Exactly. I’m glad I don’t have the fussy problems with heat some people do, I think summer in Vegas is absolutely the best! No humidity whatsoever, very warm summer nights so there is ZERO change of wardrobe for months, shorts and a T-shirt is appropriate 24/7, and it’s always swimming weather even at 4 am. To me, you can’t beat that. The rest of the country can keep their chilly summer nights, no thanks. And my preference means I can live in a world class city that costs 5-10 times less than California for luxury real estate. Winter is what sucks in Vegas not the summer, sure it’s sunny every single day basically (amazing), but I could do without the 35 degree nights. I’d rather it just be 110 every day year around and 85 at night, sounds great to me.

The whole “art and culture” thing is a joke to me, you don’t base where you live off things nobody actually does regularly. Get a plane ticket and go visit a museum or six sometimes if you want, you don’t need to live next to one. Can’t think of anything more boring than that anyway.

Try San Antonio, Austin or Dallas Texas. We get four seasons but winters are mild compared to the NE. Houston is a good choice too though flooding worries me now about it.

I measure a moderate climate by golf weather. I can play year around at these locations, with only a couple of weeks a year too cold in DFW.

Carpinteria. Laid back beach town between Ventura and Santa Barbara. About an hour and half north of LA.

Every amenity you could want at your fingertips.

For nature, if you want the real deal, buy a little cabin in Montana and spend summers there.

Stay in the U.S. No better place in the world.

Seems like Texas or Arizona would be high on the list. CA or FL bad idea.
